Card ID Number (CID)
1. What is a Card ID Number?
A Card ID Number is a security tool created by credit card companies that helps reduce fraud by requiring that the credit card being used is physically in hand during the order process.
2. Where do I find the Card ID Number?
On Visa, MasterCard, and Discover credit cards, the Card ID Number is located on the back of the card in the signature area. The CID is the last three digits as shown below.
On American Express cards, the number is located on the front of the card, just above the card number, usually on the right as shown below.
3. Why do we require a Card ID Number?
We strive to help customers protect themselves against identity theft and fraud. The Card ID Number allows us to ensure that the credit card being used online is actually in hand when a transaction takes place.
